High-tech bid to ‘green’ business
A high tech bid to help companies adopt green policies through sustainable development has won the backing of not only the Government, but also one of the region's leading utility companies.

Macclesfield-based, software development company - PixelFOUNTAIN - has not only won a Government SMART Award worth £10,000, but has also gained sponsorship of a further £5,000 from Warrington?based United Utilities.

Both awards are designed to help the company develop a pioneering interactive game aimed at helping business solve the practical problems surrounding successful sustainable development. Director of PixelFOUNTAIN, Mary Dees, explained: "During discussions with large companies and government agencies we identified the need to develop training in this specific area. 'We then set out to create an engaging form of awareness training that would translate the principles of sustainable development into 'real world' problems and solutions.

The game – 'Business unLtd – simulates a supply chain that is currently unsustainable. People taking part in the training programme will then have to alter the way the various businesses operate in order to meet their obligations – social, environmental and economic – with regard to sustainable development.
