pixelfountain and Sustainable Performance
pixelfountain is committed to reducing its impact on the planet. Our efforts go beyond
the delivery of workshops on sustainable development, waste management and so on,
we embed these principles into the way we work and operate.
Information Technology and Energy Use
All new kit is bought with energy consumption in mind. For example:
- D-Link green ethernet technology that only keeps ports open when they are used.
- Tranquil PC and Servers which are energy efficient, quite, and have five years worth
of energy use offset by the manufacturer.
- Our website is hosted by Super Green Hosting who use energy efficient kit and renewable
energy sources. They are committed to being carbon neutral.
Office and Energy Use
- Cavity walls have been insulated.
- All windows and doors are double glazed / draught proofed.
- Lights are fitted with energy efficient bulbs.
- The kettle is energy efficient, boiling only what is required, and recommended by
the energy savings trust.
- Fans are used to recirculate warm air.
- Sustainable materials have been used in the office fit out: red cedar doors and windows,
bamboo flooring, low VOC paints and heat reflecting blinds. Note: the walls have
also been painted white to make the most of natural light.
Waste and Environmental Procurement
- Office paper is typically recycled or from a sustainable source.
- Paper (once it has been reused), card, plastic bottles, cans and toner cartridges
are all recycled.
- Cleaning materials are bought with their bio-degradability / environmental performance
in mind.
- Our workshop packs are laminated and written on with dry wipe markers.
- Batteries are rechargeable.
- And we use recycled loo paper.
Transport
This is the area we need to work on the most, but:
- When possible, we use public transport to visit clients.
- Staff often telework (made possible through dial in technology and cloud computing).
Social
- We are an Investors in People employer.
- We support the local school.
