Regen-IT has been recently updated in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University.
The updates have made the simulation more focused on housing development and neighbourhood
management. This has been to reflect the increasing demand for affordable housing
and to create better Neighbourhoods.
Regen-IT was originally developed in partnership with Sefton Borough Partnership
and Sefton Neighbourhood Renewal Fund for use in workshops to improve skills and
knowledge in the field of regeneration. Sefton used the simulation as part of Commissioning
Events for Sefton Borough Council. More recently Regen-IT has been used for teambuilding
and awareness raising events in CDHT, as part of an affordable housing event for
Sheffield Hallam University and as part of a staff away day for the East Midlands
Homes & Communities Agency.
Regen-IT models the life of a borough with 5 neighbourhoods. Teams play the role
of a Local Authority (People & Places), Housing Developer, Housing Association, Neighbourhood
Managers and the LSP. The partnership need to regenerate the borough and also provide
affordable housing. Feedback is given through the mainmenu, overall scores, report
screens and GIS maps.
