Modelling to discover Cause and Effect

Cause and effect lies at the heart of problem solving and decision-making. Modeling enables a system to be described and joined up solutions to be explored.

We get groups to:

1. Identify the main ideas and issues on magic white board paper.

2. Identify relationships by drawing lines between items that are related.

3. The model is then built with software. The group then assign values to the model, which allows the group to test assumptions and define holistic solutions.

Developing People and Strategy through Modelling

During the development of a tailored or bespoke learning simulation, we can facilitate a series of design / learning workshops. Learning through modelling approach blurs the boundary between learning and consultancy. Delegates are able to gain a different perspective and think about how things do and should work. In this way, the development of the simulation can provide real-world strategic guidance.

The completed simulation is delivered in the organisation to disseminate the thinking process. It also enables the organisation to benefit from the wisdom of the crowds. Feedback can be used to continuously refine the simulation model. While this won’t give perfect answers, as the learning simulation is only an approximation, it will provide a more holistic understanding upon which strategy can be built.
