The benefits of our approach – Generic Skills
Performance through Learning programmes are engaging & fun and have very serious benefits:

  • Generates “real” understanding by allowing delegates to “experience” the problem, and so build their understanding and improve their analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Promotes joined-up thinking, which places the problem in a wider context and enables the development and mainstreaming of creative solutions.
  • Highlights strategic thinking, which encourages the development of sustainable solutions.
  • Improves collaborative working, breaks down silos and encourages buy-in. Focuses on implementation in terms of real-world problem solving and resourcing.
Developing strategy and implementing it together
delegates in training
In a study of a thousand delegates, our approach rated 40% better in terms of content, engagement, presentation, and relevance compared to traditional ‘chalk and talk’. Over the last 2 years, our average approval rating has been 9 out of 10.

Generic skills are the foundation of performance improvements.

How these benefits are achieved:

  • All delegates actively participate in the workshop.
  • Delegates are given a different hat for the day.
  • The learning-simulations rewards long term thinking and joint working.
  • The consequences of decisions are shown immediately.
  • The interdependence of decisions are built into the learning-simulations.
  • Delegates are encouraged to apply the learning in the real world via planning tools and Collaborative Action Teams.
Workshop delivery allows coaching and collaboration

Our approach improves generic skills such as communication, team working, problem solving and decision-making. EEF / NOP World Skills Survey states that these skills translate into reduced operating costs, improved quality, collaborative working, and the ability to take on new processes.

  • We have broadened the design input into Local Area Agreements.
  • We have engaged reluctant learners.
