Berry Bridge Housing (Board Member Away Day)

Berrybridge Housing association (part of The Riverside Group) was established to manage homes on Liverpool’s Eastern Fringe. Berrybridge Housing has taken ownership of the properties after a large ‘yes’ vote by local tenants in March 2002.

Berrybridge Housing owns 3385 homes made up mainly of family homes built in the 1930’s. The homes were formerly part of Liverpool City Council’s stock and transferred to Berrybridge Housing in January 2003.

The Need

Berrybridge approached us after the successful delivery of a Local Area Agreement engagement programme in Liverpool City. They wanted a innovative activity that would form part of their Board Member Away Day.

Objectives:

The Solution

In the morning the Board played the Regen-IT Learning Simulation. Regen-IT considers real issues involved in developing sustainable regeneration schemes and projects. It provided an excellent way for the team to work together on a meaningful exercise.

The delegates investigated strategies and decision making while working collaboratively towards a common goal.

The simulation is removed from the day-to-day working lives of the Board, so it allowed them to see the world from a different perspective. But, the exercise still relates to work of the Housing Association, so the delegates can contextualise the learning and develop the ideas in the afternoon “real-world” session.
